Elkhorn Workforce Housing Apartments
Expanding Housing Opportunities in Walworth County
Habitat for Humanity Walworth County is partnering with the Walworth County Housing Authority to develop four new workforce rental apartments in Elkhorn, expanding access to safe, high-quality housing for local families.
This collaborative project brings together two mission-driven organizations working toward a shared goal: creating stable housing opportunities that strengthen families and the community.
The Walworth County Housing Authority brings expertise in housing development and long-term property management, while Habitat for Humanity Walworth County contributes construction leadership, volunteer mobilization, and community engagement. Together, we are building practical solutions to Walworth County’s growing housing challenges.
Housing for the Local Workforce
These apartments are designed to support the people who help keep Walworth County running — workers in healthcare, manufacturing, education, service industries, and local businesses.
By expanding access to attainable rental housing, this project helps ensure that individuals and families who work in our community have the opportunity to live in the communities they serve.
Workforce housing plays an important role in strengthening the local economy, supporting employers, and creating stable neighborhoods.
A Community-Powered Build
Like many Habitat projects, this development will be powered by community collaboration.
The apartments will be built with the support of:
- Local subcontractors
- Habitat volunteers
- Company-sponsored build teams
- Elkhorn YouthBuild students
- Community partners and civic groups
The project will culminate in a two-week Blitz Build, where volunteers and partners will come together to complete the interior units and celebrate the power of community collaboration.
A Partnership for Impact
This project reflects the power of collaboration between two organizations committed to serving the community.
As Habitat for Humanity Walworth County Executive Director John Dawson noted:
“This collaboration allows us to combine our strengths and accelerate solutions for Walworth County.”
By working together, the Housing Authority and Habitat are expanding housing opportunities and demonstrating how partnerships can help address the region’s housing needs.
