Habitat for Humanity in Walworth County Begins Build in Bloomfield and Seeks Volunteers
Habitat in Walworth County is thrilled that the many months of planning, design, soliciting bids, and negotiating are coming to fruition! Despite the coronavirus, critical contractors have been stepping forth and moving dirt on the Bloomfield site.
The early work that is being done on the lot such as excavating and pouring concrete, is all contractor based. As mid-July begins to roll around, we are seeking numerous volunteers to help with the build. We will also be taking the necessary measures in order to ensure safety among those on the build site in relation to the coronavirus. We will be limiting the amount of volunteers on the build site, offering gloves and masks to all volunteers, as well as checking temperatures before personnel will be allowed on the site to help protect everyone that is involved.
Saturdays are our dedicated volunteer workdays. We are seeking volunteers with a range of skill sets whether you are a carpenter, good with a hammer or would like to collect waivers, hand out masks, or hustle coffee and donuts and prepare snacks for the workday, there is a job for everyone!
Volunteers will be welcome on the build site at Myrtle and Chicago in Bloomfield on Saturday, July 25th and every Saturday thereafter, virus and weather permitting. Our workdays are 8 AM to 4PM (or whatever you can endure). Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own hand tools (though not required), and Habitat provides the guidance and safety equipment.
The excitement about the Habitat build in Bloomfield is indeed building a house alongside Sarah and family, but there is a special benefit in meeting fellow volunteers and participating with newfound neighbors, whether serving coffee or pounding nails. You may even learn a few new skills!
